Robert A. Muhlbach

Robert Muhlbach is a trial attorney, admitted to the State Bar of California in 1976. In his second year of law school, Bob clerked for the Los Angeles Public Defenders office and then upon passing the bar spent two years practicing there before moving into civil law. In 1979, Bob joined Kirtland & Packard and ever since has maintained an active practice, specializing in the areas of product liability, construction defect, professional negligence, and handling insurance coverage litigation. In fact, one of Bob’s more notable trials came with the eruption of asbestos cases in the 90s wherein he served as lead counsel in a significant, multi-party insurance case related to coverage for asbestos claims.

Bob graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, then from Cal State Long Beach with a Masters in Engineering. He thereafter joined the US Air Force in 1969, attended officer school, and also served as Capt., Pilot until completion of his service in 1973. Courtesy of the GI Bill, Bob commenced his legal studies at Hastings College of Law, serving as a member of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly while there, and graduated in 1976. Within his first few years of practice, he managed to also acquire his Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California along with his professional real estate broker licensure. There is no doubt he is committed to education and lifelong learning.

At this stage in his career, Bob handles depositions of both witnesses and experts, conducts research, trial preparation, and trials. He advises as to the legal standards for complex motions and proceedings. He lends his years of expertise to nearly every active client-file within the firm, diligently working toward the best result for the client, and aptly countering the strategy of the opposition.

Bob is a member of the following: The State Bar of California,American Board of Trial Advocates, and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Away from the office, Bob enjoys spending time with his wife Kerry of 35 years in their home in Manhattan Beach, where they raised their son Kevin. As an avid private pilot, Bob continues to foster his roots in aviation. He also remains committed to fitness and enjoys time on the running paths in the South Bay.
